Update: Jeter and the Yankees have finalized a three-year contract with a fourth year vesting option, reports the YES Network. Jeter will make between $15 million and $17 million in each of the first three years of the deal.
Recommendation: This was the most expected signing of the offseason, but took some creative negotiating. Some of Jeter’s salary will be deferred, and the fourth year of the deal will only go into effect if certain performance elements are met.
